Di-ester booster

I was checking out the spec sheet for Edge 10W-60, and it mentions having a 'di-ester booster'. I've done a web search, but couldn't exactly get what I was looking for. In simple terms, what is it's function in motor oil and what makes it worth having in its composition? Thanks!

However, the preparation of esters is more involved and more costly than the preparation of their PAO counterparts.
