citgo press release regarding not using Dexron VI in early transmissions

GM press release

Does the gm press release mean it is good only for gm vehicles? If not why does citgo not recommend the Dexron VI for older vehicles using Dexron III or II?

Its not for them to bother recommending it for EVERY make/model. Dexron-VI is a GM spec, tested and approved only for GM vehicles. NO other automaker has approved Dexron-VI for their older DexronII/III or Mercon/V usage.

BTW, this doesn't mean it won't work. But, like any not 'direct' spec, YOUR vehicle becomes the test platform.

I think Castrol Dexron VI states it is for any vehilce that uses Dexron III. I belive several other brands state similar wording on their products.
