I have a new travel trailer. My last trailer i used valvoline durablend as it was on the list of approved greases.

Thinking about mobil 1 or staying with durablend.

I'm curious why durablend is an approved grease and valvoline full syn grease is not on the list? Too much moly maybe?

This is the dexter list of approved greases.

Any best choices?

Thanks.

some greases will congeal the thicker in other greases, resulting in no or very poor lubrication. Were you to completely clean the grease and replace with the syn i expect it would be OK.

I've been using Valvoline Cerulean (GC LB) for my four EZ lube 7k dexter axles. Now I see it's not on the list!...have had no problems. Seems like Mystic is widely available and respected around here.

I looked at that grease as well.

Its lithium complex so i don't see a problem either. I have to wonder if dexter has just never updated their list and newer greases have not been considered/added.

Whats odd is valvoline durablend is still available but its not on the valvoline grease website.

Here is the dexter publication, see page 53.

I had been using a random mix of Chevron Duralith #1 and Mobil red #2. It worked fine for years. 2017 I had put in new backing plates and started using this purple Amsoil lithium based #2. Since I had the brakes ripped apart I cleaned the bearings and what not. Amsoil said this grease would be fine for bearings but suggested cleaning any old grease out to eliminate any potential problems. Its quite a bit tackier than the other greases I have used but so far we have been trouble free after many heavy and long tows.

This is in my 2001 Trailswest steel 5 horse with 7k axles.

Just took the caps off mine. Red as well. I'm guessing m1 grease. So I will probably go with that.

I went with mobil 1 as it is in the warranty list. I hope it does not leak out like it did a few years ago on a previous TT. I have never heard anything bad about m1 other than leaking a bit.
