Dexron-VI

A new automatic transmission fluid called Dexron-VI has been introduced. It was developed for the six-speed 6L80 automatic transmissions used in 2006 and newer GM vehicles, but it also can be used in older models which called for Dexron, Dexron-II or Dexron-III.

While its been discussed in other thread, I never read the statement I posted. And I wanted nothing to do with "extended drain" and "vs Amsiol" talk.

I have it in my 06 YukonXL. The drain interval in the manual is 50k. I'll stick with 30k as always. I have a 4L60 series and any of the 4L and especially the 6L series will cook the fluid in 40-50k no problem. Historically for me frequent fluid changes have extended the life of these transmissions.

I don't think it has been proven that DEX IV is OK for all DEX II engines.

Conoco Phillips site says that Dexron VI is backwards compatible with past Dexron.

DexronVI is backwards compatible but at $6.00 a qt why wouldnt you use DexIII for $8/gallon if you have a DexII or DexIII application?
