At my local walmarst, there is a 4.73L jug of QSUD for $24.99.

At my local canadian tire, a 5L of castrol Edge syntec for 29.99 on sale.

I drive a chevy cruze 1.8L, which is great, love it, looking forward for my next oil change.

Im a spirited driver, 4-6k rmp mostly.
I do short trips all the time during the week, highway on weekend.
I have de non turbo, im not really looking for long OCI, but the best lubrication fot this type of engine, that suprisingly generates lots of heat under the hood.

I am temp to go with Castrol, but some Mobil ! left overs are on sale too at Walmart.

Decisions Decisions....

If you are not really looking for a long OCI ,then go QSUD because it's cheaper per L.

Edge is a superior oil IMO.

....which I believe is QSUD....which would be my choice.

the latest versions are both dexos1. They're both darn good oils, get whatever is cheapest. I'd lean towards qsud but im a sopus fan.

QSUD. It'll go 8000 miles in my turbocharged Cruze that sees lots of sustained turbo use thanks to long hills on my daily commute. For your NA 1.8, it'll be plenty fine.

I've also had horrible luck with any Castrol lubricant, including the OEM fluid in my Cruze's transmission (M32 6-speed manual transmission).

did you use castrol for all fluids??

Check this out...

Castrol EDGE w/ Syntec technology has a TBN of 11.3 in the 5W30 weight, whereas Quaker State Ultimate Durability has a TBN of 8.5. That 2.7 higher, I think it is a no-brainer considering you are looking for a good based on your driving style and should be able to get 12-15,000kms out if it no issue.

Good luck btw. Oh and the 1.8 I have personally witnessed does not really like M1 - based on a buddy of mines 1.8 NA Cruze.

I know its not a ferrari, but if i had one, i would ignore comment like yours. thx.

Just going by their own Data sheet I don't care for the Castrol much.
Lousy pour point and just OK for most of the other relevant data. No thanks pass I'll on that.
Castrol
