As I mentioned in another thread, I'd upload some pictures of my wife's Accord. I used Meg's wash and claybar, followed by a coat of Meg's cleaner wax. I followed it up with 2 coats of Collinite 476 paste with 4 coats overall on the hood. This is the first time I used Collinite products, but with the reviews I've read here, I decided to try it. I was impressed with it so far. A little difficult to remove, but not too bad. I did everything by hand (usually I use a polisher), but since this was the first time I went the safe route. I want longevity in the rain we get here. This car sits outside all the time, so better protection was the goal. Apparently, I put the coats on too thick so when I do my truck with it, I'll thin it down. Positive criticism is good with me!

And, for all the talk about mismatched bumpers on the other threads:

I had to detail the engine. This is, after all, BITOG.

Looks great, let us know how the Collonite holds up in the rain when the surface is so hot in the Florida sun.

I've heard that 476 is very durable -- some guys use it for their wheels since it can really take a beating.

I waxed the wheels with it as well. Easier to remove brake dust!

BTW, thanks for the kind comments guys.

Very clean car and engine...garage looks spotless too (notice how everything is lined up on the shelves and you could eat off the floor). I used to be like that...then I got old.

No criticism necessary; you did a superb job! I like your "stash" of oil on the shelf visible in the first and third photo; clear evidence of a BITOG member!

I found out the hard way too. Its much better to apply the sealant thin, thin, thin. If you have to strain your eyes to see if you covered the paint with the sealant this is the perfect amount. Makes removal much easier. If you want a boost in protection after washing consider using Duragloss Aquawax(spray sealant with UV blockers). Don't use it more than 3x per month or it will start to cloud the paint. The DG shampoo is very good also.

I got around to waxing my truck with the same process. It was much easier to remove the 476 when put on a bit thinner than I did with the Accord.

Overall I still like to use Meg's cleaner wax as prep work. It tends to catch anything that I might have missed with the clay bar and give it a good base coat. Plus it is easy as pie to remove by hand.

I have always used Megs Gold Class but I've been wanting something that will last longer. The 476 is a keeper for me. It has since rained several times and the water literally flies off the car.

BTW, my wife helped with the interior detailing and washing both. And she cooks!

Liquid or paste on the Meg's one step??

I also switched from the Gold Class and NXT 2.0 to the Collinite 476/845 combo.
As the cowboy who was running from the DEA in Robert Earl Keen's song "Gringo Honeymoon" says, "I ain't never going back!!"

I've used both the liquid and paste. I prefer the liquid due to it being pretty easy to apply/remove, but I think paste waxes (in general) do a better job.

I've got 2 full bottles of Gold class and 1 full bottle of NXT. Makes me wonder what I'm going to do with them.
