This is one of the few not-entirely-synthetic oils I'd consider running. While I'd run the 15w-40, the 10w-30 is likewise an excellent, cost-effectively blend.
It depends on how it's driven. The more short trips the shorter the change interval. 5k is generally fine for most rigs that get fully warmed up most drives. How long would you run this oil in a 4runner that holds 6.6 quarts given it's dual rated oil? I know it's a blend but it will be more robust (solid hths and starting TBN etc.). Just 5k or extend it? 4.0L V6 is port injected and easy on oil.
It's a mix really. I have typically gone 7,500 to 10,000 miles using Euro rated or a 20k rated full synthetic for gas engines. Just know this oil is going to be robust even for a semi synthetic so wondered if I could push it past 5k. I think there is elevated oxidation that can take place with diesel oil in a gas engine even if TBN is strong and it is dual rated. Just curious what others thought or would do without having a UOA in hand.It depends on how it's driven. I'm already at 7K in a hybrid. Going for 10K.It's a mix really. I have typically gone 7,500 to 10,000 miles using Euro rated or a 20k rated full synthetic for gas engines. My 02 specs SLAPI SN is plenty good for a 4.0.
That's awesome. I got some of the oil with prices going up. I may do 7,500 in the 4runner. Ever done a UOA?I'm already at 7K in a hybrid. Going for 10K.
Will do soon. That's awesome. I got some of the oil with prices going up. I may do 7,500 in the 4runner. Ever done a UOA?
I ordered two jugs of Mobil 1 AC from Walmart - came in a bag and looked like two possums had fought in a gunny sack …Have they improved their packaging? I know it's been awhile but they were using single wall cardboard boxes and FedEx which was a double whammy. Needless to say sometimes when delivered they were busted open and another time got damaged during shipment and sent back to Walmart, they did however refund that one promptly.
I just ordered a couple of the oil change bundles from Advance, I chose the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean but one of the filter boxes had been open and taped back shut. When purchasing filters you should really open the box to make sure everything is fine, make sure the correct filter is actually the one in the box, look at the seal and inside of it. You would be surprised what you can find sometimes and by checking it out you will prevent a return trip. I typically don't buy the oil from the part stores but when they include a free filter it's actually a really good deal and gets it at least comparable to Walmart pricing.
