I have been using 5w30 in my 2007 F150 Harley Davidson 5.4 3v V8 for the past year or more with great success. I prefer it over 5w-20 for noise and feel of the engine. I have gotten my best fuel economy using the slightly thicker oil and sleep well at night using it. Not trying to start a thick vs thin debate as I'm sure that horse is pretty beat at this point. But I have access to this Delo 400 LE 5w30 api-sn/cj-4 oil for pretty cheap through my wife's work. They use it in big rig trucks and buy it bulk and are willing to sell for cost to employees. Anyone use this oil in a gasser? What do you think of me using it for my main application? I haven't found much info on this oil yet. Just a pds from their website. For the cost for full synthetic I'm thinking of using it in as many things I can as it is cheaper then most Dino oils that I have access to. Any input is much appreciated!

I've heard of people running all kinds of weights in a 3V modular, all the way up to 20W50, trying to quiet down the cam phasers, and the 400 LE is dual rated, should be a good match. Better MPGs are a nice bonus, I've been wondering if my 4.6 2V would lose mileage with a 5W30-doesn't sound like it.

I find that it feels more peppy with the thicker oil. Seat of the pants feel. And my but may not be calibrated as well as a dyno. But I attribute it to the cam phasers having more oil pressure. I may be wrong. But I like it. And Fords recent switch to the 6.2, 6.8 and 5.4 in their 2016 models to use 5w30 allows me to be confident in my choice on my out of warranty higher mileage (not that high...) daily driver that tows heavy in the summer.

I am running the 5w40 in one of my 2007 3v's right now...150k all original..runs great but phasers are starting to get noisy...helps quiet the phasers that are starting to rattle just off idle when hot....cold start is still quiet with the 5w....i have gone as far as 15w50 M1 wuth these engines but didnt like the extra cold start noise till it got oil up top...one thing that is very important with these engines is an oil filter wuth a silicone adbv.....

The bulk Delo will be fine. It's really good oil. Iso-Syn is their process for highly refined oil. Works great in a lot of motors and is the go-to oil for many mixed fleets

I've been running Maxlife 5W-20 in my 3V 5.4, which seems to be working great. I still have a bunch on hand, but I also have a bunch of Maxlife Nextgen 10W-40. I think for my next few oil changes I'm going to do a 5 quart jug of 5W-20 and top the rest off with the 10W-40.

I've never seen Delo 400 LE 5w30. Do retail stores in the Northern U.S. and Canada carry it, or only through distributors?

This is all I could find on this oil. Wish there was a voa somewhere...

I think this is one of the most popular mixed fleet oils out there. We have it in various farm shops for mixed fleet use. Never an issue. It runs in a LOT of pick-ups and light flatbeds in the vineyards

Goes in the supervisors Nissan, just about everything. Only other choice is 15w40 HDEO and that's now for the big rigs only. All the fork lifts, smaller trucks, tractors up to 100hp all get this
