Delco and Fram same price? Porque

Okay so for my '04 Impala the price of the fram orange can and AC Delco are the same price at Advanced and O'Reilly.

Why would they be the same price if the Fram if the superior filter? Or is Delco on par with them now?

Also, how is the Delco able to go the entire life of the OLM (between 7 and 10K miles) yet doesn't advertise it? It's kind of odd seeing as how that's the filter on the Corvette and Cadillac for that amount of time yet the company doesn't tout that.

I wouldnt run either of those for more than 5,000 miles... could they? maybe, but I don't think they are marketed or designed for it.

Who said the fram is superior to AC-Delco?

Does the Delco end with "e?" If it doesn't than it's a no brainer to go with the delco. Their newer e-core series are comparable to fram orange can.

AC-Delco is considered the OEM replacement filter for GM vehicles. It has been tested against their OLM as long as you use an oil that is approved. I have used ac-delco filters for the majority of miles in my Equinox and Malibu using the OLM with zero issues. This month I am switching to Mobil 1 for the Equinox purely because I got them at a good closeout price and the mobil 1 extended performance is a superior filter compared to the Frams or Delcos.

The AC Delco Ecore (part number ending with "E") has allegedly been improved-but I would go with the orange can for the same price, or something better if possible.

The ACdelco classic or ecore will have more surface area than the Fram. ACDelco is oem on GM cars. Here is a used classic off my grand Prix. The ecores are nice too with a lot of pleats like the classic. I have used both and trust either one.

I found a used fram on the internet to compare with the Delco above. A NAPA next too it makes a nice contrast.

AC Delco over the orange can Fram. If the AC Delco is a classic and not an e-core, it's going to be a way better quality filter.

Fram ultra is a superior filter the orange can is the bottom of the barrel although it has improved somewhat.

+1, the ACDelco classics seem to be a very good filter for the money. Plus, very importantly, it's what GM designed your 3.4/3.8 to use.
