Decided to Try a Carquest Premium.

Well,..................I received my 15) Carquest Premium oil filters from Advanced Auto. Looks as if they ship like Amazon, a BIG box, and a sheet of brown shipping wrap that is 36in long and I can crumble up to a size of a softball. Shake it and filters are flying around all over the box. It had to be tossed around at UPS since the brown tape with fiber in it was busted on the bottom and top. I don't have time to inspect them today but those filters where "a James Bond SHAKEN and not stirred" items in that box. Would of been nice to get some more paper crumbled at the bottom and top to make sure nothing gets damaged. Maybe anyone ordering a nice amount of filters, it may be a better choice to go to the store and not let UPS beat to crap out of the filters. Just saying.

^^^ They are probably OK since each filter was in a box too. But yeah, a typical rush and cheap out type packing job used by Amazon and many others.

Made time to check it out, all ok. They are robust filters. Made in China.

3 of the CCP models I bought are made in Vietnam, 1 model is China. /shrug
If all the same model, then looks like both factories can also make some of the same model number. They all have the same date code?

i spend enough at my store that the GM just lets me walk to the back and grab whatever i need lol. i will only deal with one singular AAP and it’s my store. i refuse to deal with other stores or AZ/orileys. if my store doesn’t have it i have them transfer it in before purchasing.

No, four different vehicles/filter models. I don’t remember off the top of my head the PN but the China filter was for the GM 3.6 in the Equinox.

SO, I thought I read here that the efficiency of these was 99% at 20 microns, however, looking at the Premium Guard website, it's showing 99% at 25 microns for the Premium Guard Extended Life.

I called PG Tech Line a while back for clarification. The official efficiencies are:

98.7%@15 microns(absolute)
99.5%@20 microns
99.9%@25 microns

It’s up to marketing of the various brands to decide which rating they use.

If this filter so well-built why it has limit only for 10K mile? Premium filter with synthetic blend media, Silicone anti-drain back valve, metal end caps, no sloppy glue residue, etc.

Are they being too conservative? Thinking what are cons using slightly longer

High efficiency filters usually have a short service life, rule of thumb being longer service life = lower efficiency & vice versa.

I was warned by an analyst years ago that the old Pure One would clog up early due to their high efficiency, so change them out sooner.

But high efficiency doesn’t sell filters, long life does.
