Decided to Try a Carquest Premium.

My local Carquest keeps all of their oil filters in the back. In fact, the front of the store doesn’t keep a huge amount of stuff, most of their stock is in back. I like that actually, then nobody tampers with it.
Been a long time since I was in a Carquest, but I do seem to remember them being sort of an old fashioned operation like that. You go to the counter and tell them what you want and they go get it out of the back. NAPA is similar but they keep some stuff up front.

Forgot to mention, my local AAP didn’t have the Carquest Premium on the shelf.

I asked, and they said they don’t keep it on the shelf because they don’t market them to retail customers. They market them for their fleet/commercial customers (who probably get a better price than what I paid).

So, if your local AAP doesn’t have it on the shelf, you can ask. They may have them in the back.

Have to ask for them at the counter . Should be better that way , less tampering or being dropped . Still check them for imperfections or damage .

You’re at least the 2nd guy here to suggest the possibility that an oil filter could be “tampered with”.

Seriously? Who’s gonna go mess with an oil filter?

Some of y’all are paranoid! 🤣

Walmarts Fram's are swapped for lower grade versions all the time. I check everyone I buy since they only had tamper tape on the top and not the bottom. Not a problem anymore since I dropped using Fram now that they wrecked the brand. Also a couple of dented cans, not that I worry about a light dent.

Every shop for oil filters at Walmart? 😄

Never had a problem, but yeah, I can see that happening. Seems like the Frams I’ve always bought at WM have a little circular clear tape on them keeping them from being opened.

That doesn't stop people. Might only give you an indication the box wasn't opened. But people have said those boxes can be opened from the bottom and not disturb the tape on the top flap.

I have seen cheaper filters in the box of a more expensive one many times over the years, always at Walmart 🤦‍♂️ If the box wasn’t completely sealed it is too easy for scammers to switch the filters around and get a $13 filter for $3 🙄

It even happens in Walmarts in other countries . o_O

I have been thinking that local AAP stores just warehouse to keep returns people bought online and returned

Bought two carquest air engine filters at local aap, got two but different colors and seems different manufacturers. The guys said they have only these

Bought 2 KYB shock absorbers at the same store one was shot already and made in Mexico, another in Japan but seems someone already tried to install it. And they had only 2

Bought pads, one was damaged and seems already returned

So I shop only online AAP

But manager at the store told me, if a part is not available at a main warehouse they will ship it from local store.

Absolutely correct
You can open from the bottom and easily close like never was opened using paper inserts on the bottom

Just pulled the trigger on 15) Carquest Premiums. $8.00 ea. Says 99%/20u on the website, I can only hope................
same bought 3 and 3 for my 2 cars. want to see first if AAP send dented or damaged, which they can
