Not made by PGI ... middle man is Highline Warren which has no connection to PGI.
Highline Warren told me on the phone the new Mobil 1 is 99% @ 20u. The 99% @30u was for the M+H made Mobil 1.

Nope, the middle man for the new Mobil 1 is Highline Warren - no connection to PGI. The Mobil website shows Highline Warren as the company who takes care of any warranty on them. M+H was show for warranty when the Mobil 1 was made by M+H. I spoke to Highline Warran on the phone about it, and got efficiency on the new filter, which was 99% @20u.
The new Mobil 1 may be made in some of the same factories that PGI uses, but PGI has no connection to the Mobil 1 filter.
Will there be a change in packaging so that we know we have the new, better efficiency rating?
Don't know, guy didn't say, but I did tell the Highline Warren guy that if it's that good Mobil should be showing the efficiency with associated particle size and test method on their website and box.
Can I get a variant filter from Advance Auto? We don't have O'Reilly's around, and I want to check them out for low OCI's.
AAP has the Carquest Premium ... that's the one you want from AAP.

Yes, it's the only place you can buy the Carquest Premium, and at a Carquest store if you can find one.
I purchased a bunch of jugs of VRP. I stocked up on filters that could handle a 5k-mile interval. My engines are clean and maintained. No worry to have a filter clog up due to VRP.
I choose Purolator BOSS, Mobil1 EP, and AMSOIL. oil filters

Forgot to mention, my local AAP didn’t have the Carquest Premium on the shelf.
I asked, and they said they don’t keep it on the shelf because they don’t market them to retail customers. They market them for their fleet/commercial customers (who probably get a better price than what I paid).
So, if your local AAP doesn’t have it on the shelf, you can ask. They may have them in the back.

That's what I had to do too. I changed my oil 2 weeks ago with a CQ Premium and Valvoline 0W20 and AAP did not have the filter on the shelf. I asked for it at the counter and the guy brought one out from the back. I opened the box and checked it out before paying for it though. It was $39.00 and change for the oil and filter deal, which I think is not too bad of a price, for a parts store.
That another reason I haven't get into Carquest because of my OCD. Feel weir to ask the part counter can you bring 5 oil filter and let me pick “lol

I think he guy wasn't feeding you a line. Anyone can buy the Carquest Premiums on AAP's website, even use a online discount code. When I picked up my Carquest Premium at the store, I asked the guy why they were kept in the back and he told me because they don't want to take up self space for other brands ... who probably pay for that shelf space.
I like that they are behind the counter, because people can't mess with them. And I asked the guy if I could inspect it before buying and he had no problem with that.
Just look at the one he brings out and ask if you can inspect it for damage, etc. Don't need to have him bring out 5 filters, lol.

My local Carquest keeps all of their oil filters in the back. In fact, the front of the store doesn’t keep a huge amount of stuff, most of their stock is in back. I like that actually, then nobody tampers with it.
