Debating minivans

You are all over the map then.
You have a nearly fully loaded brand new SUV right now.
You will take a huge financial bath selling it.
Go to Carmax, start test driving everything.
Rethink what you’re thinking right now.

If I want a comfortable and quiet ride I wouldn't go for a minivan. Hybrid would be much better in quiet than gas engine in theory. You don't drive much, so get a used Lexus or Avalon. If you want a higher ride height get a used Lexus RX or NX. Pilot will not be much better than a CRV or minivan.

The only benefit a minivan has over other vehicle is 3 rows of seats with sliding door. You don't need either. The storage is not much better than an SUV or even a CUV with a well designed interior.

We enjoy our Sienna Hybrid. Definitely worth it for us. Great people hauler. Fantastic MPG. And the turning radius is insanely impressive for its size. No issue with reliability what so ever. Down sides are always there. It’s bigger than a midsize SUV. Definitely not picking up any cool points driving one. It is not very powerful. I’d call the power adequate at best. The lack of power bothers some folks. Not sure why. It’s a minivan with a four cylinder - shouldn’t expect much 🤷‍♂️

The lack of power definitely would bother me because I often load up my van on long trips with family and lots of gear. Having a powerful engine means lower RPM, less engine drone and ease of maintaining the speed on the inclines.
It all translates to better long distance driving experience.

So it all depends on on how you’re using the thing.

It isn’t for everyone or every situation. We have taken it on long trips loaded up with 6 people + luggage, coolers, etc before. Never had a complaint. However if I needed to haul more or lived in a mountainous area I’d probably be looking into SUVs. Probably full sized ones even.

I wound up getting a Ridgeline. Even longer wheelbase and really good ride. Definitely quieter than the CR-V. Over 4" more shoulder room. Really roomy. An excellent upgrade.
That was quick! Good luck.

You beat me to the punch as I was just typing up a suggestion to test drive a new Honda Ridgeline. You will appreciate the utility of a covered pickup bed, even though it is small. Like most owners have stated, it is plenty of truck for 90% of the population that doesn't need a pickup for commercial work or frequent towing.

Thats the dad spirit.

If you dont care about the latest mom and dad toys, or the mpg, the previous gen Sienna is a better value, save yourself $20k. Its a Toyota so its good for 20+ years.

Every friend that has one has had quality issues that the odyssey owners don’t (I get it that odysseys can have issues too). Pretty surprising and disappointing given the great history we had with our Previa. And the user interface ergonomics are far worse. I’d avoid personally, especially given the compellingly superior MPGs of the newer one.
