Getting an advertised price depends upon dealer honesty and state laws. I was about to give up buying a truck last year, and then went online where Dodge provides sticker sheets of vehicles at a lot of dealers. I looked in about five states before finding what I wanted in south-central Oregon, which was a new stripped down short bed Quad cab diesel with a stick. When I called and said that I'd drive down to look at it, and would probably buy it, the dealer said it was an advertised loss leader and that per state law they had to hold it for me at the advertised price so they'd need some personal information so that they could hold it for me. It was waiting when I got there, they were already working on the paperwork, I didn't even test drive it, and picked it up for less than $26k.
