Dealing with people who don't care-auto maintenance

Many nowadays don't even know what's under the hood. I was getting out of my CRV and asked a man in his 30's "what under the hood" of his big Dodgd Ram 1500 "Texan" truck. His reply was "I'm not a mechanic". I have asked some other young men in the past about whats in their vehicle and they did not even know how many cylinders their engine has.

I have been in aviation repair and manufacturing going on 37+ years. You would be surprised how many that are great in their field of aviation repair are absolutely pig ignorant when it come to theirs or anybody else's vehicle mechanical needs and afraid to work on their own stuff.

Some people just will not take the mental load in to contemplate maintenance of their vehicles. I think many of these types do vehicle leases for this reason and only have to worry at most of getting a couple Jiffy Lube visits in (if any at all) before they are looking to turn in for the next lease vehicle.
