Interesting....I would love to bust through the "huge discount conundrum." Here in Phila., there are always 0-4 and normally 0-2 Tahoes on the lot. Most dealers show list price. Every once in a while a discount shows up, not huge--someone in the business knows why. In East Hartford, CT, Tahoes are $3,000 over list. Different market? That lease is ridiculous.
My understanding is they lose out on the commission/incentive/whatever you call it unless a certain amount of payments are made. I can’t even remember if I made one payment or not before refinancing. But if I did, it was only the one.
Now, got to Chicago or Dallas, and getting a $6k sometimes $8k discount showing online is easy--15-23 Tahoes on the lot. It would be very, very, very, interesting, to see what the add ons are. I even learned a new word through my internet searches: "upfit." That's not included.
In other words, you're not walking out of there with $6k off, or $8k off, BUT, some have said, even with the add ons and shipping to say the east coast, they still made out better than their local dealer.
This is a very draining process to say the least!
