Dead: Nissan Maxima. -Jalopnik

My last Maxima ( with CVT) was Fast, comfortable reliable and a very good handler for a FWD.
But the Altima has grown and also moved upmarket there was simply too much overlap.

all the love children produced after the Renault-Nissan marriage were abominations! It blows my mind that a Japanese car company thought they had anything to learn from a FRENCH automaker!
nissan wasn’t even going to make it into the 21st century if it wasn’t for Ghosn making them profitable again.

How about, styling. Just compare the Versa before and after as it transforms from basic transportation to a sleek upscale design.

I remember renting one in 2006. Going out on street and wanted to check acceleration. There was so much torque steer I wouldn’t try it again with cars around it. Absolute POS, and they labeled it as “sport” sedan.

NO ONE is going to miss it.

Torque steer is hilarious

A couple years ago I test drove a base Versa with a 5 speed mt. What a piece of garbage! After opening the hood couldn't get it to.
And they wanted 16K for the pile. A few year earlier I drove the redesigned Sentra. That was very VERY impressive.
That had a balky MT also so I passed. But seats, handling, appearance in and out was excellent.

And now Sentra safe enough to drive on the public roads compared to the old deathtrap box of paper-thin mild steel.

Shockingly poor moderate crash-ability

Imagine-getting up in the morning-to start your day, going out to your driveway to pickup your newspaper with your fresh coffee in your had, and there it is your gleaming Versa, the styling so sleek, you can hardly imagine it's yours.

Yea-save the adjectives and buy a verb.

I've always been a fan of the A32, and even had one with a VQ20DE and a 5 speed during my time in the UK. Interestingly enough, what the rest of the world (excluding Japan which got it as the Cefiro) got as the Maxima (or Maxima QX depending on market), the USDM got as the Infiniti I30. It's sad what's become of the nameplate.

Despite the hate, I always loved it when I got a Maxima rental car. Much, much more fun than the normal Sonata, Altima, or Fusion hybrid rentals. I'd consider purchasing one as the production line runs down.

Also despite the terrible reputation CVT's have, the Maxima's CVT is known for being reliable and long lived.

Heck, ALL vehicles look exactly alike now. I can't tell a KIA from a Bentley. I hate seeing any sedan go wayward. Just another way to force soccer mom buses on everyone, and suddenly society is brainwashed.
