Yes, wearing a suit and tie and playing music was cool

"Take Five" minutes and remember a legend.

One of my favs; a little bit of musical chaos; no smashing to equipment required. Listen to the whole thing please.

Used to listen to him growing up along with Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis, and many other greats from that generation.

Quote:
"At that point, we had three or four albums a year to get done," he told CBC Radio in 1976. "And [Dave] said, 'Why don't we do ... all different time signatures? ... We got 2/4, 3/4 or 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 8/4, whatever. Why don't you take 5/4.' So I wrote 'Take Five.' At the time, I really thought it was kind of a throwaway. But it was Dave's idea, so give him ultimate credit."

Yeah my Dad had his LP's in the 1960's (I have them now). tube around and listen, pretty awesome stuff, at least IMHO. He was no doubt a jazz great, and a pure musical genius.

I have seen him perform twice....what a great musician he was! And he seemed like a really cool guy too.
