I would never have been interested in UOAs prior to meeting all of you!
Just thought I'd let everyone know that I have a Blackstone kit sitting in the garage waiting for the current OCI of PP to come due before the GC goes in the Sequoia. I'm changing the PP at about 6,000 miles so that I'll get a full 7,500 miles on the GC prior to the 90,000 mile service.
I plan to get a UOA (maybe TBN?) on the PP to see what the engines doing and then another UOA on the GC at 7,500 miles (with TBN) to see if the oil can handle 10,000 miles. I'll do a final UOA (TBN) on the second round of GC to confirm the 10,000 mile results and then move on with life. If GC isn't looking promising at 7,500 miles I'll evaluate if another UOA would be worthwile on a shorter OCI.
I think I'd switch to something other than PP after the GC if things do work out like I plan so I'm not sure paying for the TBN check would be worthwile. My dyno-butt hasn't appreciated PP in the Sequoia like I did in my previous Mazda.
