I cant find any info around on this topic yet. Like Ford, does anyone know if DC has/planned to back spec any of their vehicle for the thinner oil?

The reason I ask is that 05 & 06 3.7L & 4.7L Jeeps call for 5w30 and now all the 07 3.7L & 4.7L models are calling 5w20, so I have heard... Is this true?

Most likely.
You can, if you wish, use the thinner oil in the winter(quality oil), but, were it me, I'd stick with the xW-30 during the warmer months.

I agree the longer the product last the less units they sell. Fine balance between (3)years of warranty and (3) year new vehicle purchase.Bless their hearts.

I also read somewher that these engines I have listed have small oil ports or something to that effect. I remember reading that a dealership was having troubles with thicker oil clogging up the ports. Sounds like the same talk as the ford triton engines and the thinner oil (if true).

Thicker oil doesn't "clog" small passageways. Chunky oil clogs small passageways. However, significantly thicker oil can require much higher pressures in order to push it through the small passageways.
