Here's what a good friend of ours from the UK once told us.
"Men & women to 40 come. Men get belly, women get bum".

75% prefer dad bods only because 75% are out of shape and ashamed of it, so they wont feel any pressure to be in
Dad bods are preferred by nearly 75% of singles, survey suggests
Dating.com asked 2,000 singles what body type they desired in a partner, and most people preferred "dad bods" over bodies with hard abs.www.yahoo.com
I agree! But ... Ummm .. that is why there is health insurance, as well as car insurance doesnt matter how careless you are with your body.Honestly, even if you're not in shape. If you enjoy gluttony and sloth more than fitness and health, that's your right. I'd also put forth that you should be held accountable for the healthcare bills you rack up. That's where the rubber meets the road....will you be responsible for your choices, or not.
"cardiobunny", good one, that made me laugh, Good start to a new day. Thanks.lol, maybe. You sound like a cardiobunny to me though. Healthy for sure! But your BMI is seriously low. Back when I was cruising around 12% body fat my BMI was 27ish. I don't like being much under 200#, really. I am 5'10.5". I'm probably around 18% right now and need to cut down, though. No way I plan to get my BMI below 26-28. I need power. Try to keep my squats/deadlifts over 400# and maintain the ability to knock out 20 pull-ups strict if need be. Strength isn't everything, but it helps me do work.
That said, I'm in favor of people being healthy or unhealthy or whatever they choose, so I dunno who I'm "preaching to".
You sound like you're happy just being an active skinny guy. And that's totally cool man, you do you.
I agree, health insurance is for that, for sure. Hence why I say, pay and plan accordingly. That said, I am very frustrated at socialized healthcare, as well, where insurance companies must bill equally instead of taking a measure of the client's health. What if car insurance was like that? No wrecks, but guess what, your neighbors had wrecks. Guess your rate goes up...75% prefer dad bods only because 75% are out of shape and ashamed of it, so they wont feel any pressure to be in

With that said, I do believe one should have the option to join a health plan whom stay within the proper weight, BMI for their size.
Just like car insurance, better drivers get a break, obesity is the driving force on our wild health care costs, bar none!
People who take care of themselves, meaning just as simple as maintaining a proper weight should be able to have a separate health plan or discount on their current plan. Its not fair to be lumped in with "reckless" drivers anymore then reckless eaters.
It would truly be a more fair plan but will never happen because we do not have a free market anymore.... (no politics allowed)
Ouch! I don't consider my weights big honestly. Those were maxes. I generally will only work out with 225-315 in squats/deads for reps. Yesterday was chest day, just took it easy with 75# dumbells x10 on the flat, and 60# on the incline. I consider that/myself to be kindof at the bare minimum for power/performance in that regard. I am content, but far from "proud" of it."cardiobunny", good one, that made me laugh, Good start to a new day. Thanks.
You doing some serious weights there. Good for you. I did them too but paid a big price about 10 years ago when I was in my mid 50's.
After finishing 3 sets of bent over rows and short brake I moved on to B-press with dumbbells 65 lbs each. As I was almost up during 2nd rep I heard loud snap and felt horrendous pain in my shoulder. My left arm completely collapsed and dumbbell missed my face by inches. One guy came running to me and said. *** happen? It sounded like you broke the bone. Within a sec. I notice big bulge on the inside of my left elbow size of golf ball. Never seen a doctor about it. Took me almost 4 years to recover when I could finally raise my left arm all the way up. Finally was able to return back to gym but lift much lighter now. Learned a lesson that having mentality of 20 year old as you get older usually doesn't end up well.
^^Heck yeah she is!!My wife is very attractive
Warm up was usually on the bike for 10-15 min. and some stretching that's about it.Ouch! I don't consider my weights big honestly. Those were maxes. -Did you warm up/are you a warm up type?
-Is 65% at that time heavy for you, or were these easy reps and you dunno what on earth happened?
-Did the arm destabalize at that point, prior to failure and you get "off axis" of the lift?
Is that the SNL "mom jeans" sketch? I remember my wife seeing that and going...."oh hell no. I'm never wearing those again!".

I think it was about 70% of my max 1 rep. can't remember precisely.
I didn't feel anything different and it felt like any other day which always end up well for years.
Nope.Had you recently taken antibiotics?
Ugh. Now I have worriesNope.
My interpretation of the Dad bod, is you're in decent shape, can go for a 5 mile run, do a couple sets of curls with your 90lb kid, but you have a bit more body fat and aren't too worried about it. That said I do notice a bit more female attention when I'm a bit leaner, but its pretty obvious even then I don't have a set of rock hard abs under my shirt!
