Recently, I was cruising past a gun store and decided to drop in. In was in Randolph county NC...... should you be in NC, if not....go elsewhere.

They had a great selection of several different guns. I would recommend going there the next time you need something.

Anyway, after 2 years of pondering, I finally picked up a CZ457, in 22lr. I typically will research the hell out of an unknown and this is no different. It has tremendous iron sights. Puts you in mind of an old M1903 or Mauser. All steel, with a slider that corresponded to yardage out to 200 yards. A fully protected front sight. With good eyesight, they are no problem to pick up. And, the best thing is that the slider for adjusting yardage, is spot on......this was a consensus amongst my research that is 100% true. I did test it out to 200. It was raining pretty good that day, and I did not take pictures, but they were all kill shots, easily a "minute of squirrel butt " at 200. At 50, "minute of squirrel eyeball".

One thing that was also a trend in the reviews of the gun was wood stock quality. Quality meaning "the look". Some noted that it was hit or miss with CZ unless you go to the Premium line.

They had 3 to choose from, so I picked up the one I thought was the prettiest.

Bottom line, it is an excellent rifle, and I am glad I got one finally. If you are in the market for a nice 22lr, this one will not fail to impress. Ultra smooth, super accurate, pointable, nice irons....killer package. They are expensive in the 22lr world, and the magazines are not cheap, but it is not a combat gun, so two mags is really all you need.

I have put about 200 rounds through it so far, and I need to do my Ballistol ritual with it.

I ordered a simple leather sling and a spare magazine, and when it comes in I will take some pictures, with a better range report than hearsay. Below is a stock photo.

I have about 2000 rounds of cheap ammo that would go good with that... no so good in a ruger 10/22 or my sig p322 unfortunately 🫣

Those look pretty nice. How much was it?

Congratulations. I look forward to hearing you report back.

Which model did you go with? The picture you attached looks like a Lux, but you mentioned Premium.

Mine is a Lux. I noted "premium" having to do with the stocks and their prettiness. Evidently, the premium version has a threaded barrel, and a hand picked stock. When I get a chance I will take pics.

I have a ruger 1022. They are great rifles, in a different category. My 1022 is ammo picky, for function and accuracy, which pisses me off, frankly.

Out of this gun, I shot 3 different ammo types, and all were in the same realm of accuracy. Of course it is a bolt gun, with no issues feeding.

I’ve got a 457 American that I shoot smallbore silhouette with, and a fixed 10x Weaver silhouette scope that was made in Japan - very good scopes. I love mine! I changed out the factory magazine for a 3D printed single shot adapter.

I thought about the single shot adapter, cool idea. Those older Japanese made scopes are top notch for sure.

I’ve been looking at the CZ457 for about two weeks now but just can’t justify another gun purchase before returning to the States. This 457 appears to be a great value for money in terms of construction and accuracy. The model I like is called the “Royal.” It is described as having a “sporter weight” barrel, but I am not sure that it is any bigger in diameter than their standard 457 barrels. I think it would be a great plinking and squirrel hunting gun.

It’s only because single loading guarantees that there won’t be any deformity from magazine loading. It may not be much but in silhouette even the slightest change that throws off accuracy matters.
I agree 100%

The other day i was out shooting it in the prone unsupported, feeding single rounds through the regular mags. I do have the advantage to shoot left handed with a longgun, so I can see the hole.
