CV Boots are Split

I'd also go the reman route, doing it yourself or having it done. Remans are relatively cheap and carry a lifetime warranty. boot job is much more labor intensive (especially if your paying someone else to do it), and if it's not right no help but to pay to do it again.

This is kinda like the argument of rebuild your own wheel cylinders or calipers, or buy warrantied factory remans. I'll go with less labor and a warranty every time.

Is this the same 300+K car that was Havoline-exclusive? What are you Using in it now... Havoline DS?

It is the same car. but it's seen all brands of oil. Mostly Halvoline, valvoline and Pennzoil.

Right now its using Quaker State 5w30 and Fram filters.

Take care, bill

You'll never be a real man until you've changed a CV boot yourself. And it's so satisfying getting those balls all greased up.

The issue is you pay some cheap overseas labor rate to manufacture and assemble the assembly or a high US labor rate to replace the boot, hoping you caught it in time and did not get any dirt in the bearings.
