CV Axles? Advice.......

When I was looking around for one for my TL, the GSP always came to the top as far as recommendations went. So far, I've used them on my TL and Accord and have had good luck. They seem to be well built.

Of course, you can always get a Raxles rebuild, but for a street driven car, I'm not sure I see the need in spending that kind of cash.

There is a known issue across the odyssey boards.
I am getting a vibration during acceleration.
The engine mounts all seem to be good.
Suspension parts are all good.

Drivers side cv is next to cure the vibration.

I am replacing the CV axles in my 2015 Odyssey - - - was looking on rockauto at these....

Never used this brand before------- has anyone used GSP before - - it so how was the longevity?

Thanks
I used this brand before. Did not have any issues. Got about 40K miles on them before sold the vehicle. Still fine at that point. Chrysler 3.8L minivan.

Are you absolutely sure about the motor mounts? These are a VERY weak point on Hondas. In addition to causing a vibration during acceleration, when the engine is idling in drive, if there is any vibration in the van, one or more of them are bad.

Yup.
At idle they are smooth as silk.
The vibration does not start until 30km/h to about 80.
It gets worse the more throttle you apply.

Had the same issue on a crosstour. Only vibrated/shuttered around 30mph under throttle.

Tried a few aftermarkets kept having a vibration although not as bad. Going OEM fixed the issue. Lots of effort tracing them down to the CVs. Replaced the whole transmission too.

Thanks.......I'm also thinking going OEM at this point.

Was it both sides on your crosstour or just 1?

Not at all the same vehicle but helped my little bro on his Acura. (FWD)

Had the same problem as described, bad vibe under acceleration yet well behaved at cruise. Doing a foot on brake and giving it power eliminated engine rocking from bad motor mounts.

But throwing the wheel hard over one way and the other revealed the failed outer joint. Which way you turned it shows the bad U-joint axle shaft on that same side.

If it pops and crackles to the side you turn sharp on it with heavy throttle, that's the side you usually find the bad axle shaft on, barring just a clunk. That's a whole different can of worms. 🪱

If you feel a vibe or hear crunchies under de-cell, it's usually inner joints. But we opted to simply replace both as it stands to reason if one's bad then the other is not far behind. I suggest you do the same.

It's not a hard repair in the driveway to swap halfshafts on a Honda, thankfully.

It was both sides, I only replaced one side and it got rid of 95% of the shake. Not noticeable unless you’re looking for it. It feels like acceptable driveline vibration. But that’s just becuase the driver side CV isn’t as bad as the passenger.

Which side did you replace that took 95% of the vibration........ driver?
