Cut open: Wix 57302

It was in service for just over 6k miles, on my LR3. Used Valvoline 5w30 conventional, this time switched to Maxlife 5w30 and put another Wix on. The new one is black, old was white and I think before that I had a black one on it.

Nothing really interesting. No cuts or anything and the ADBV was nice and soft.

I am not sure what the deal is between white and black can Wix filters?

Probably not much, as I got a deal on 12 WIX 57145 and they are all white with silicone ADBV

When were they made? Check the date code on one of your cans

I have a 51315 made in January 2017 that is a white can

Should've checked mine, forgot to look at date codes on either of them.

Looks excellent at 6k miles.

As for can color, wouldn't give it much thought. When the newer 5/7356 was introduced (for Honda and others) it started as white in color for some time, then changed to the current (last purchase) black can. The 5/1356 it superseded was and is still a black can.
