all I know is what I saw in previous filters before using zmax and then the drastic difference and the only thing different was adding zmax. I plan to use it in my Malibu to see if i get any change in those filters also although i don't think that motor has build up bad since i have always used syn and on regular OCI's. I really hope my next Tahoe filter comes out fairly clean then i will add another bottle of zmax and see if the next filter will load up as well.
