While that's certainly true, I'm not willing to assume that all screen-back glass media is created equal. I'd still like to see some data regarding flow rates and beta ratios.

Even with the dome-end bypass, I'd consider using the RP filter, since it flows so well that in my application (mild temps, very thin oil, low-revving engine) it'll almost never see bypass. But I'm not going to simply take it on faith that this filter filters and flows as well as the RP. Yeah, it *looks* good, but looks can be deceiving; which is why, in the absence of any data, I'm a little confused by all of the hype? I'm not saying I think it's a bad filter, I'd just like some more information before I start buying them by the case...

no, but I got a call the next day saying they came in. I think I have a pretty big napa though. always a fedex truck or semi unloading when I go there it seems.

That's pretty cool, seems like good service at that Napa.

i'll run em for two to three OCI,500 hrs on the Briggs.

Hey, you ARE daman!

PS: Wanna see some specs, but I strongly doubt it WONT be more efficient than their Napa Gold lineup from Wix. Flow rates etc, possibly slightly less if no difference at all effectively.

I've tried contacting them on filtration specs and efficiencies... they have yet to even bother replying.

I would certainly hope so, because that's not particularly efficient.

Sorry, I still want more to go on than "the rep said it was the same as the Amsoil filter".

Ya that would be a good start.

Just went to pick up my order up and they still hadn't even opened the email that I reserved them online. So the guy just ordered it a few minutes ago and it will be in tomorrow. The guy tells me they are not a Napa store they are just a Napa franchise and they just sell Napa parts. I said ok so to me that means the same thing you sell Napa parts. This guy didn't know what he was talking about. So now he tells me if you reserve it online you have to call him so he can order it. I said well if you had checked your system you would see the online reservation and that should tell you to order it. So I will be picking them up tomorrow. One Gold and one Platinum which were on sale.

Maybe "reserve it" doesn't mean the same thing as "order it" to them. Guess people could reserve something and never go in to actually buy it. I'm not familiar with NAPA's on-line buying scheme ... so check the fine print.

Yeah true but reserve it states on the sight that your parts will be ready for pick up when you walk in. The Napa Gold was on the shelf and he didn't even grab it and put it a side like AAP does. The thing is they never monitor their system to see if anyone has reserved something.

Sounds like their business practices suck.

Do you guys think that the 41040 will be good for two 7500 mile oci's? I know that it's accepted that the larger filters will handle it fine, but what about the smaller ones?

^I'd like to see what they claim their dirt holding capacity is first...but that said if you have a 'clean' engine that shouldn't be a problem depending on your application.

If you do extended OCIs, change your filter once a year please anyway.

If those miles are highway or for all intents and purposes can be made within a years time or so, go for it.

This will be for the wife's 3.1 GM powered car. It has new rings and bearings and it's still on the stand yet to be fired. She drives 25-30 miles one way to work depending on if she car pools and the majority of it is gentle highway travel.

I went looking for a NAPA Platinum this morning and the store I went to had none at all, and they wanted $13.59 for the NAPA Gold for my car, so I can just imagine how pricey the Platinum will be if it comes up here!
