lol I posted this a few months back but thought I would post a link in the mahle video thread in case anyone missed it.

I used larger picture resolution in this thread.. maybe I should post em full size. But then it wouldn't be good to have your computer overload in a giant oil filter pornado.

Moron

What's that about?

After reading it probably a dozen times, I think I finally got it... I think itlman's comment was joking because I said the filter "is for" and not "was for" since being cut open it obviously cant be used. and then made a stab at neons reputation. lol

Where did you buy Mahle filter ? Online or local B&M ?

I'm looking for Mahle OC330 for my S2000, it's about 3/4" longer than OEM 15400-PCX004, but nowhere to be found.

Rock Auto shows this filter is in stock.

Thanks guys.

I'll take a look at Rockauto, instead of searching oil filter for S2000, I will searching for part#.

Yeah. Rockauto has it at $2.85/ea for less than 20 filters, $2.45/ea for 20 filters. Not a bad price at all, especially WM has Fram for $3.xx/ea.

Do you still have this filter laying around? Was wondering if you could measure the media area by counting number of pleats, and measuring pleat depth and length. Can do a calculation to get total media area.

Doing some cross referencing, I discovered the MAHLE OC 338 crossed over to the Purolator 20195, which has ~168 sq-in of media area.

Why yes I do! but the L20195 is like twice as tall as the oc338.

55 pleats (not counting the metal seam)

pleat depth: .46 in
pleat length: 1.65 in

total area: 83.49 sq in.

edit: thats my one complaint about mahle.. crossing it on purolator and wix's website will give you two different results. on wix's website it crosses to a 51365 which is 20mm and not 3/4".

So I go by what rock auto list or what the mahle application guide says.

Thanks for the measurement info. I was doing the cross-reference from the MAHLE product catalog.

If you go to this link, you can download the entire application catalog in PDF form. The cross referencing data is at the end of the catalog starting on page 720.

Forgot to say I'm pretty disappointed in the media area for the filter that MAHLE crosses for the Purolator 20195 (which has twice the area).

yeah that was I was thinking... but the OC338 is a small filter. but I noticed in their PDF they spec OC108 for a 2.4L neon.. IIRC the 2.4L specs the bigger L20195 (wix 51516)... so maybe the OC108 is a more proper cross reference?

it list the OC108 as 123mm tall and the OC338 as 87mm tall.

I believe they have changed some things around on their cross-reference list. It looks like the PL20195 now cross references to the Mahle OC981 which also cross references to the Wix 51516 and Motorcraft FL400

Looks like the only difference between the OC338 ad OC981 is that the OC981 being a tad taller.

On Wix site the OC981 actually crosses to the Wix 51348, but on the Mahle site the OC981 crosses to the Wix 51516... go figure that one out.
