Looks like it could go a lot longer.

I've always liked Mahle filters.

Looks like it's still new! Aside from a bit of oil soaking and discoloration, there's not a hint of dirt...just a few oil bubbles...you could clearly run that filter far, far longer...

I've got Mahle filters in the Volvos.

OE fleece in the MB.

P1 or M1 on the other cars.

Never cut one open, but the cartridge filters coming out of the Volvos always look great at 7,500 miles.

Mahle spin-on filter OC-xxx seems very good at reasonable price, usually around $2.xx-$3.xx each. The only problem is hard to find at local stores.

That looks great. No crusty crud and any residual oil still looks clean after 4.5k miles. You must take good care of that Neon.

Put a Silicone ADBV in there and I'm there.
