Oh I couldn't care less about your skepticism. None of the comments I have made in this thread nor any other are relevant to my career. What you think about me is unrelated to the statements I've made.

I'm always looking for the best performing oil filter. Today I run the Fram Ultra but I would have no problem switching if I can find a better technology - better meaning long life and better filtration within similar price point. I have looked at Microgreen in the past but I read their website and it just stinks of marketing speak with no actual data. If they have run so many studies why can't they write some white papers on their site, list some ISO test data, etc.

I found this paper by Microgreen and again it really lacks the details enough to convince me:

Id be skeptical of anyone claiming to have their work published and holding multiple patents that wouldn't identify themselves.

That claim with no substance puts in question all your other commentary.

Not sure if any of it is relevant to the topic anyway.

Im not dissuaded by your stance, or posts.

Never saw that info, but that or one piece isn't enough for me either.

Im a Fram Ultra user as well - and have been a proponent of it on the boating forums.
I have taken much heat for it as the Marine engine guys dont seem to be convinced of the FU, but I like it and run it and will stand by it.

That said I dont see how any single stage filter beats a well constructed 2 stage unit.

Ive got FU on the shelf and MG's - The only area I can see where the FU may have the MG beat is the main media efficiency, but when combining the second element I dont see how any single stage filter can beat it.

^^^^ The reason that I want to see the ISO spec data is because the Ultra is actually very efficient in the same range as the bypass section of the MG:
Fram Ultra 99.9% @ 20 microns and 80% at 5 microns (ISO 4548-12 multi-pass filter test)

Microgreen is ? (maybe 95%?)% @ 20 microns and filters 5% of the oil @ 2-5 micron (according to the patent you linked)

Which filter will filter the oil better?

Good question. Id like to see that same ISO spec called out.

I think It's a good filter rumble for sure.

"better" is subjective - the two will clean differently for sure.

5% of filter flow starting at 2 Microns is pretty good filtering.

Im guessing that the Main media efficiency lies between a Napa gold and Platinum - a range considered premium quality.

Seems like only one filter removes enough to extend TBN life enough to get 30K from makeup3 filters - the MG- only one manufacturer makes that claim.

I like both products - but believe the MG has the edge here.

This is interesting. In my case I purchase the MG's two at a time (That's the way MG sells them) for $15 when they have sales. Shipping is free. So, at $7.50 each they are slightly cheaper then Ultras. I always have 1-3 filters on the shelf so I don't experience inconvenience. What's most interesting to me is that MG does not state that synthetic oil must be used to achieve the 30K OC goal. I am not going to experiment on that one.

I buy the microgreen filters the same way. And, because I'm a sceptical old sot, I change the oil and the filter at intervals recommended by the OLM for my Chevy Volt (except I did the first change after about 1,300 engine miles) and every 10,000 miles on my other two cars. I use M1 5w30 EP. It may be overkill, but I've only had one internal engine problem (2003 Saturn Ion) and that was a known issue for the engine.

If anything, the Volt's no fun because it never needs anything done to it. I use the gas engine so rarely that the oil has to be changed only every 2 years.

I hope not ... that would mean between 50% and 95% @ 20 microns.

That is strange ... and maybe dangerous for those not knowing much about long OCIs.

Although its great I can get 2 on sale I dislike this mail order only method of attainment.

I have to time my purchases to get the deal- annoying.

If one subscribes to their 30/3 routine they will always have one extra filter on the shelf- great for microgreen.

Id far prefer to walk into an auto store or big box store where I can buy it open the box and make sure its good to go vs having a pack of 2 show up.

Love mail order but like to check my filters out before I walk away - guess Im old school as well.

^I hear ya. Prior to this, though, I was ordering the OEM Mazda filters online. Prior to that I was ordering filters for my 1989 Accord online as well. So, for me, there was no real change in habit.
