That is incorrect, they are made by Champ Labs

Purolator made. Motorcraft's cousin.

I think the Mopar filter is a Champion because there are 6 large holes in the base plate.

THe Mopars that I have seen are made by Purolator to Mopar specifications (much like the Motorcraft filters are).

F04F24D1

F = Fayettevile, North Carolina Plant
04 = Month (April)
F = Year (2014)

Don't you know by now the tears have nothing to do with mileage and everything to do with the person cutting it open?

Oh yes, I forgot that part.

I find it amazing these fumbled fingered media cutting oafs only cut Purolators, as other filter makes on this board seem to escape the can cutting hackers quite well.

It is amazing that someone can put a screwdriver-sized hole dead-center on both/either pleats next to the seam without damaging the adjacent pleat... four times without even seeing were it could line up.

The problem with the "opener's error" is that every single tear has been next to the pleat (and a metal pleat at that). If it was someone cutting through the media, we would see the media torn in different areas of the filter. That and the fact that the media sits about a centimeter below the baseplate... with those precious metal end-caps protecting it.
