I may post pics later but for now...On the pleat next to the metal crimp, the media is not securely attached to the potting material. This is the same location where there are tears in all the other cut filter pics. On my filter there are no tears.

The media is very tightly packed like a P1 is, but the material is thinner.

I recently cut open a Fram TG. The Bosch uses a red ADBV, and the Fram used an orange ADBV that is a much better grade of rubber. I described it as surgical grade.

I'm not going to pull the current Bosch now but I am going to shorten the oci from 6000 to 3000 miles. Will be hunting for another $5 - $7 filter that can make 6000 miles oci. I already tried the Fram TG but it did not work in my Jeep Patriot.

Surprised the TG did not work for you it's been one of the best on my Jeep. Start up rattle issue or what?

What filter does your Patriot take? My guess is there is a Motorcraft "S" series filter that fits it and those have been crazy good on Jeeps as well.

you say you tried fram tg but it didnt work on your patriot. what does that mean? wrong size? etc...
i think you should shorten your oci to no more than 4,000
also have you considered a mopar filter?

Get the Napa 7060 (Wix 57060) for $6.69

Napa has their Platinum filters on sale this month for $7.99. BTW, the Platinum's ADBV is more of a terracotta color

That's a thought. Does it look like a Champion ?

Are we positive that is a tear in the 3rd picture, I'm not.

Edit: I see the OP mentions its not attached securely.

When I zoom in on the suspect area, it definitely looks torn to me. Also, the other ends of the same pleats look suspect to me, but I can't see a definite tear. Perhaps the OP can examine the filter again, perhaps with a magnifying glass, and report back.

No they aren't.

No torn media reports yet so I assume its different. Plus they have a different bypass.

^^^ Maybe Purolator should change their use duration statement to 1000 miles.

The date code is F04F24D1. Is this an old filter?

In the second pic a pleat is almost torn.

In the 3rd pic a pleat is partially separated from the potting material.

I think the Mopar filter is a Champion because there are 6 large holes in the base plate.
