Cut open another ecore

No point in posting pics, it looks about like any other ecore. It was only on for 1500 miles, so I expected it to be in good shape. It was, with a pliable nitrile ADBV. The end caps on this one were harder to get off than the last one I opened, but I was still able to pull them off. I took the cage out and tried to break it, and was finally successful in breaking it by hitting it against my pipe vise a couple of times.

In other words it looked fine. However, I still don't trust the combination ADBV/bypass thingy, so I replaced it with a Motorcraft FL-820s. Since the Motorcraft cost $3.75 at my local Walmart, only a little more than the STP filter at Autozone that I just cut apart, I can't see any point in using any more ecores on my Ford. Might be OK for a GM vehicle that has the bypass in the block.

the 820s has very littlr threads on the filter where it screws onto the engine i dont know about the others

That may be - but I've been using them on my Mercury and never had one come lose or leak.

I wouldn't use them for any interval unless I could inspect the media thoroughly first.

I just opened a non-ecore supertech (still champ labs) which had one pleat that was torn... I'm not having much luck with champ lab filters....

I was a fan of Champion Labs before the Ecore. I used to buy Deutsch filters from Chief Auto Parts before they dropped them. They were similar to the AC Delco and STP filters pre-Ecore. I cut a few open, and they looked fine.

Champion still makes some good filters, but I'm not planning to use any more Ecores.

Yeah the high end like K&N and Mobil 1 Extended Performance style are good filters.
I will not use anymore ecores either.
