I'm worried about that sliver of glue inside the element. Does the oil flow from the inside out in an oil filter or the other way (outside-in?)
That could cause some problems if if got squirted through the oil system.

Judging from a recent posting of an ST3614 from a Focus, I'm going to say this PF61E does not have the bypass holes.

In the ST3614 image, you can see the holes on the flat side of the baseplate. The image on this post is from a similar angle, so I will *assume* the holes would be visible here as well. But a baseplate pic would tell the real story.

In my previous referenced post, the ST3600 is the FL400S xref from a Ford Windstar.

Owners manual specs PF61, If I lookup my app (car in my sig) on ac delco's website it lists pf61 or pf61e. Walmart only had pf61e.

It does not have a bypass.

The white end caps seems to be better than other paper/fiber end caps... More like a tough fabric

By comparing the inside bases of the PF61E to the ST3614 (other thread) with combo valve, the latter has an extra inner set of holes. Also, looking closely at the black nitrile material would help determine if the app uses a the combo valve design. The combo valve having an extra circular concave area aligned with the extra holes in the base. Where this thread came to a question was the statement that this PF61E has a bypass, but as typical of GM, it doesn't.

As for the endcap material, it seems more like a felt-like material than Honeywell fiber. IIRC, Champ used to use another name for the material on it's website. Now all it says is "thermally bonded non-metallic end caps."

The Adbv on alot of non GM ecores are combo as a bypass and adb valve. What confused me is that this ADBV is much larger, has a lip, vs the one I cut open but yes it still lacks the holes.

and the material of the end cap on ecores is much more stout than frams. It is not cardboard.

That new E-core version looks rather fragile compared to the old version.

I'm probably going to switch over to Bosch Premium.
