Yes, oh a good case of irony. LoL

Most GM owners that have their oil changed at the dealer don't even know or care that they are driving around with e-cores. It's just us crazy BITOGERS that make a big deal out of it. I don't run an e-core or a Fram orange can.

I just don't trust the Ecore filters with those weak endcaps. The farm orange cans are glued solid. You would destroy the media trying to peel those.

As Fram now likes to proudly claim all Champ made filters and the being leading supplier of OEM filters, they take ownership of both.

Be nice to know positively if the OEM filter used on the failed C&D Corvette engines were ecores. Haven't seen it published definitely one way or the other, only that GM claimed they were due to a filter failure of some sort. In any case, the ACDelco would be a Champ made filters under the Fram banner.

While it's possible that the Corvette(s) had its oil changed prior to C&D taking possession, every new GM vehicle that I've serviced has come with a GM oil filter, not AC Delco. I don't know who makes these filters, but they feel very study and solid. Certainly not e-core..

Member car51 not long ago posted pics of a 'GM Factory' PF-63 'ACDelco' linked which has the ACDelco logo on the label.

It's possible that some other GM Factory OEM oil filter applications don't have the ACDelco logo on the can. However, that being the case like the ACDelco over the counter retail filters I would 'speculate' they too are made by Champ/(fram).

As for the factory filters on the failed C&D Corvette engine being ecores (or not), that has been speculation by several other members on some recent ecore threads here. Thus the point of it would be nice to see a definitive answer to that 'question/specualtion'. No conclusion was reached saying was/is an ecore. Clearly the factory ACDelco linked is not an ecore, but that is one application from a different model and year.

that is my experience as well. When i was trying to roll out the media on my previous orange can i kept tearing the media trying to bust the gle off of the seams. Its very sturdy.

Nice theory or possibility!

I think it looks fine, for what it is. I've cut open a few that were used and I had no issues with how they held up at all. Had one on the Firebird when I purchased it and it was on the vehicle for almost a year and was still working just fine.
