Cut a Napa Silver last night

Well, finally did the oil change on my sisters Chrystler Sebring with the 2.xL 4 cylinder. Approx 10k miles on the Napa SIlver filter and Napa Synthetic oil

. Oil came out looking, feeling and smelling good and while thats not scientific it means I figure at least it wasnt super thick, thin, gassy, burnt or with gross contaminants.

Anyways did a fairly hack job cutting the filter open last night and will post pictures later after work this evening. But the good news is that filter looked great! Some wavy pleats but otherwise no issues. Never did this before so I don't know how ADBV should feel but this was still pliable to a large degree with no cracking....

Last summer I ran a Pro Select for 7000 miles and cut open. Media looked very good but the ADBV was getting hard and stiff.I did not have any startup noise at that time.

I like the Silvers, I wouldn't consider them the best choice for 10k OCI's but good to hear it faired well.

I have run quite a few lately and cut two of them also, a lot of quality for a little bit of money.

i picked up a couple pro-selects myself and will cut them apart when they are done.

i also bought a couple micro-gards and they appear to be the same filter judging by looking at them side by side, i will compare both when cut open and check the innards.

As you can see, definitely not a "pro job" but I figured it could give you an idea of how they hold up. I didn't bother taking a pic of inside the can as it was just dirty oil with a bunch of hacksaw swarf. But I gotta say, it really held up well for 10k miles. I know its pretty subjective but can anybody describe how the ADBV should feel? It wasn't super soft but it was pliable and despite the filter standing upside down for a week before cutting there was still a ton of oil in the can.

Looks like it held up well for 10k miles. Some Purolators look like that after 3k miles.

It held up very well for a 10k run of a budget filter. The Napa Silver ADBV's are fairly stiff from what I've seen in the ones I've cut, but they work well. May be due in part to the compression the coil spring creates.

What's the part number on it? The FL-910s equivalent? I see it doesn't use the combo valve, I was in Napa Saturday and I wanted to look at the Silver FL-910s equivalent as I was curious if it had the combo. Must have the Motorcraft style thread end bypass then like some other Silvers do? They didn't have any Silvers in that size in stock for me to look at but Golds were on sale for 40 cents more so I bought a couple of those for my son's Chrysler.
