Current Gen. BMW X5 Experience?

A few summers ago I was making small chat with a fellow with an X5 diesel at a tire shop. I asked him how he liked it for towing, he replied he loved it especially for towing.
He said his previous vehicle was a Nissan Armada and despite having a V8, it's performance and reliability were horrendous.
The BMW had outperformed it many times over.

Wife drives an X6M. While not an X5, there are similarities. It's a nice driving vehicle. I'd say you either appreciate BMW's, or you don't. Buy whatever trips your trigger.

This which begs the question of why you are buying a 50 to 75 K vehicle when you are financing and leasing your other vehicle? To each his own.

If I had to replace my '18 Forester I would look at at a Hyundai SanteFe Sport with the turbo, The BMW X3 or possibly the Infinity QX30. I think I would lean to the QX30

That first generation Armada is big POS. I drove them a lot some 10 years ago. Vehicle with mediocre performance and abysmal gas consumption.
BMW diesel will easily tow 5-6000lbs. If one does not tow, it will out run any naturally aspirated V8 in 300hp range up the hill.

I didn't want to bog the thread down with useless discourse, so I didn't elaborate further. .

You are right about you love them or you hate them.
They require preventive maintenance and driving, they do not like grocery getting driving regime. If someone wants just a box that goes from point A to point B, there are much better choices.

That has never been the case with my dealer; sometimes the rotors are still within spec.


In the rust belt you normally don't reuse rotors for a second set of pads.
