On my 04.5 CTD, I have used both the M1 filter from autozone and mostly have used Stratopores. Whch of this group is the best and what does each offer? Of course all the boxes say they filter great, flow great, and probably even ward off evil spirits.

I know, I know, it doesn't matter what I use because the CTD will last forever anyways. Still, I would like to hear some thoughts.

I ran a M1 filter on my '98 CTD once, and did notice insolubles were a few tenths of a percentage less than with the Stratapore, while wear numbers stayed about the same. Don't know for sure if it was the filter, or other circumstances.

I've been running full synthetic oil for the past several years, the last OCI was 17K miles in 10 months with one filter change halfway through. Insolubles on that were 0.8% using Stratapore filters.

For me, the Stratapore can be had via mail order for around $8 a filter. The M1 I bought at the time was $12 at AZ.

You're right, the CTD will last a long, long time.
