@Cujet, better be careful with Florida's new speeding law!

How much time in jail?
The trooper in the video says 30 days in jail and a $500 fine.

The jail time should definitely be a deterrent, but the fine seems very low. My nieces daughter just got a ticket for 104 in a 65, here in Utah. The fine is $700.

I can't remember which Scandinavian county has a graduated traffic violation penalty. It is based upon your wealth/income. To me, this makes a lot of sense. Some wealthy dude driving a GT3 may think nothing about paying a $700 fine. To him it's just the price of a nice thrill. But make it $10k, and that's what he was saving up for a new exhaust system.

And everyone else who likes to drive fast in Florida. As of July 1 going 50 over or over 100 mph is an arrestable offense.
AZ isn't much better: driving 20 mph above speed limit is considered Class 3 misdemeanor and can result in up to 30 days in jail if you're unlucky.

100 is OK if the situation is safe.

Some areas of Florida the roads are very nice, flat and straight.
Perfect for speeding.

Being stuck in a pack of very slow moving vehicles is a recipe for disaster if someone not paying attention.
NASCAR style wreck with 10 cars / SUV / box truck.

Florida has a bigger problem with speed traps and police that do not value your rights. WV has an even bigger problem....
Speeding and tailgating I have no sympathy for....However.
People drive like there is no tomorrow for absolutely no reason .

My defense is going to be that my new F150 has a speed limiter of 97mph and there is no tune or defeat available...

The airplane tends to cruise at 168mph, and Vne is 195mph, which it will not do in level flight. Best I've been able to accomplish is about 180...

When I was a traffic cop 15-20 years ago, I arrested anybody going over 100. I'd write them a "Careless Driving" charge which was both double the license points of speeding and was also a bondable offense. I had a 100% conviction rate, so the judges saw it the same way I did.

Many average Joe citizens think officers are out there writing people for 7 over. When I worked highway, it was 90 plus all day long and all the tickets I cared to write. From what I see commuting these days, speeds have gotten higher, and enforcement has dropped dramatically.

There was a Movie back in the day it was Cannon Ball Run 2, I cannot find the Video, but there was a scene with Jackie Chan and the guy that played Jaws in one of the James Bond Movies, probably Moonraker. They are driving at night in a Mitsubishi Starion and they go by a cop car. They had something on this car where they could not be identified, kind of a stealth thing. 1 cop says to the other cop, what was that, he says I do not know, but whatever it was it was doing 145 m.p.h.

Hope this isn't you!

West Virginia and Virginia are like that. Weird thing is that nobody lives in West Virginia

On I95 90 mph is the norm and in the low speed lane they won't allow you to go the speed limit

I had jokers flash the lights on me going 75 mph when they had 3 open lanes to move in... I didn't move for them.

NC will take your license away for 30 days if your 15 over on a hwy with speed limit 55+. Its mandatory suspension.

When I lived in NC I got a 72 in a 55 - interstate entering a city and the speed limit changed and I missed the sign. So 17 over on an interstate. Was at night and where the sign was placed was obvious speed trap and the trooper was ready. I even signaled and moved over a lane even though he had no lights on.

I had to pay an attorney to make it go away, and he did. I was new to this job and feared loosing it if I couldn't drive for 30 days. Was the beginning of my absolute distrust of our so called Justice system.

And I don't live in NC anymore.
