I bought this truck about 20 years ago. At the time it had everything I needed. 3/4 ton, Big v8, manual trans(I wont own a auto trans, too much bad luck with them) 4 wheel drive, and low gearing (4.30).
Since I was familiar with Internationals naturally thats what I bought. Couple of years ago I rebuilt the 392 myself. Well I had to farm the valve job and Cam bearings out but I did everything else myself.
I never liked the wide ratio 4 speed trans. Too much rpm loss between gears so you must scream it to shift to the next gear then it almost bogs untill it gets back into it's power range.
Anyway. One of the self serve wrecking yards was having a special today. If you brought in a complete scrap car with a title they were paying double the usual amount.
I couldn't pass that up so I took in 2 junk cars. These cars have been sitting in the back yard for years and were rodent motels. Couldn't even see the engine in one for all the Rat poop.
This run was a total of 9800 lbs between the truck, trailer and junk car.
After leaving this light I had to go up a hill thats much steeper than it looks on my bad cell phone camera.
V8 power! (and 6 mpg)
It was *106 when I shot this and no AC. Uggggg
