I try to take at least one decent trip every year and at least one complete cross country trip every couple of years.

This year we rode US-60 from Louisville, KY all the way to its end in Arizona just west of Phoenix. We rode 89A, some Route 66, cut over to Oceanside California just north of San Diego and then worked our way back east Via US-70, US-380, and US-69 to link back up to US-60 in north eastern Oklahoma where we would finish riding back near home on US-60.

We were fortunate to have Zero Rain, which almost never happens!

In all the trip was a little over 5100 miles in 10 days. The 24’ KTM-790 ADV did great. It now has almost 21K miles on it and is doing awesome.

Congrats!

I've probably logged 350k miles on various motorcycles over the decades. Ridden in 49 of the 50 states (still have to log AK).

If you really want to challenge yourself, consider the "four corners tour" by the SCMA. Not the same as the 4 corners AZ,NM,CO,UT; though that's a neat place to visit also. https://sc-ma.com/four-corners-tour/

500 miles a day. Wow thats a lot of riding.

How many miles do you get to a tank?

Thanks for sharing!

Yea, some days when there isn’t great scenery like in northern Texas or across the plains we rode 600 miles or so. Out west in California/Arizona only about 300 as there is much more scenery to stop and take in.

My bike the KTM 790 and my uncles Versys 650 both average 50 mpg or more at 70mph. We fill up every 200-225 miles. At 65 mph or less we can go almost 300 miles a tank if we absolutely have to.

At 75-80 mph about 200-225 a tank is maxed out.

Great trip! You were nearby on 89A, I know where those pics were taken looking back toward that old feed lot. Did you sight see off the route or keep rolling?

We mostly kept rolling. We rode 89 from US-60 outside of Phoenix, up to 89A and into Flagstaff. From Flagstaff we went west to seligman as we did 89 north of Flagstaff 2 years ago when we went to monument Valley and did the million dollar highway.

I think next trip I’m going to ship my bike out and then fly in and ride for a couple of weeks at a slower pace and then ride home. That will give me 4-5 extra days to slow down and “smell the roses”

Beautiful area you live in. Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and California are my favorite states out west to ride in. Simply beautiful scenery. I really love the High Desert areas.

My back aches just thinking about it!! Love long road trips but I'll stick to a car for max comfort. Yes, I'm a total wuss!!
