I almost wonder if she had a stroke during the surgery, this isn't uncommon in elderly patients...I still bet on a serious reaction to the anesthesia administered as part of the surgery she had...I've seen this in a couple of elderly folks that had proceedures, after the surgery their personalities changed markedly as had their memory.

Once you're 70 don't let them use anesthesia unless you're the situation is dire and the utmost emergency. That being said I wouldn't even go to the hospital after 70.

Absolutely and unequivocally one hundred percent dead serious, if I make it that far. I'm not spending my last years wetting my diapers and drooling.

My step dad had to shoot himself twice in the chest. The hole in the window could have been avoided with a little practice. Good luck.

And I stand by my comment 200%. If you can't leave people the [censored] alone, you're not normal and need to be removed from society.

Jaraxle. I'm 65. It has taken a bit to get this far, but I'm not incontinent. My short term memory is shot but that just gives me more exercise. I'm not ready yet. But, I believe that it should be an option, faced with something uncureable or so painful, that life is torture.

Good point! Disregard my advice OP, I was only a state court judge for 28 years...

Apply cold water to that burn!

Whether this poor women has mental illness or drug induced she should be given a bit more sympathy. What exactly do some of you guys want the police to do, arrest her for being ill?

Every time we're outside, she bangs on the windows or slams her storm doors very loudly for about 5 minutes. She's moved yard ornaments to my yard saying that it's her property, even though it's clearly not. She's since put 3 video cameras in her front yard all aimed at my front yard. I was in the alley way last night raking up some leaves, I look over my shoulder, and she's standing there on her property hold a camcorder recording me. [censored]?? Her husband is no help and is a complete moron. I was out in the alley way two months ago with a steel tape measure double checking the property boundaries from common points, I have the original plats. She came in the alley way, went to grab my wifes face, wife told her to back off, grabbed my tape measure, ran into her yard trying to pull the tape measure away from me. I warned her repeatedly to let go, but she kept on, so I finally yanked it hard enough and it cut her arms and hands. She starts screaming...mind you, I'm in the alley way, not on her property.....she grabbed the end of the tape and ran into her yard and shut her gate. I did not go into her yard. Anyway, I called the cops and that was it. She walks over to neighbors across the street and screaming "Look what he did to me". Geesh. Everytime we come outside, she goes outside, I guess she just sits and watches the videos. I have a 12 year old daughter. Yesterday, my wife was leaving in her car and she comes out in her front yard and starts mimicking a monkey like dance in front of my wife as she passed by in her car. It's getting worse. At some point if her crazy arshe steps in my yard, she may get shot. I don't know what to do. I've researched harassment and privacy, but so far, no laws have really been broken. Ya'll got anything??? I've recently installed video cameras in my front yard also.

I have a question. Do you think this post paints you in a good way?

You injured an old lady and are threatening to shoot her? Maybe they need to ready 2 beds at the nuthouse.

Especially when you consider the part where he says she was great for 17 years including giving his daughter gifts and Easter baskets until she got ill. I would just avoid and not engage her. This is sad and difficult for everyone involved.

Yup, it's great to receive kindness from other people, but to give it in return and have some compassion for another human being, is another story.

Unfortunately, that's the society in which we live. Who would you personally call when an elderly man is beating on his tiny, elderly wife and claiming that she's an imposter someone sent to kill him? In the end, in some of these situations, the police must come out and arrest and restrain the mentally ill.

I don't like it at all. But, until fast, effective cures are readily available for mental illness and things like dementia and those so afflicted are willing to take them, yes, police will arrest people for being mentally ill or having dementia.

I fully expect to be in a wheelchair, an advancing state of senility, or both by then.

Schmoe

Security cameras, thumb drives for recording her antics and police visits to show security videos, are what you need to do.

Do not approach here. Do not talk to her. Do not even give her eye contact. Avoid her like the plague. Just let the camera(s) do their work and dial 911 when necessary.

Does she have other family like perhaps some kids that can be contacted and the gravity of the situation conveyed? It sounds like she needs to be committed at this point, her faculties are too far gone/impaired for her to be safely at home.
