Hello,

i was doing some manteinance on my car,and i removed the distributor cap to clean the contacts with a wire brush, i noticed a crack on the inside of the cap,the crack is like 1 inch long..Should i replace the distributor cap?

thanks.

Also the rotor looks very rusty but the car starts and runs fine.

Replace both while the car is still running fine.
This will save your being stranded one damp morning.

Absolutely replace it. Moisture will get into the crack and it will conduct high voltage. Cracked caps are one of the things that go back to when car ignition systems had points, they caused problems then, and still will now.

i replace cap, rotor, wires, plugs, every 4 years, NO questions ask. i found that here in kansas we get so much moisture the vent lets in WAY to much. so i plug the vent hole. been doing it for a long time. caps last a LOT longer.
