Cracked cover on five month old Samsung washer- juice worth the squeeze?

I've used the actual manufacturers apps that are available for alot of these appliances, especially the ones with wifi functions. Allows you to access things a little quicker. Some even have online diagnostics, kinda like OBD2 functions. And some have access to parts. Can monitor fridge and other appliances remotely or get an alert if things fail.

Even though you are far from an authorized repair contractor, companies will go to length to honor their warranty. You may be surprised.
25 years ago I purchased a window mounted air conditioner. Consumer Reports said to get a specific Panasonic model. I couldn't find it locally, but found it online and ordered it. Within a couple months of use, it was clear the thermostat was not working correctly so I called their customer service. They took my info and the Panasonic rep called me a couple days later and said they were going to have a person out, but to be patient, it would take a week as they had no Panasonic appliance contractors in the pacific northwest region. They called and paid an independant to fix my AC unit and overnighted him the thermostat. He called and came out for the 10 minute swap and was on his way.

Sorry to see that happen. Frustrating for sure. I’m surprised that part of the cabinet isn’t metal. It doesn’t hurt to ask about repair/replacement as you will never make a shot you don’t take.

For some reason the washer keeps forgetting where it is in the cycle and bounces back and forth btwn rinse and spin. Unplugging it for five minutes and open and close the lid 6 times in 12 seconds and it resets for a few days.
Today I bought a new Electrolux front loader and matched dryer to stack and open up more room in the confined laundry area. My mom had a similar set and she was very pleased with it. They spin like 1300 rpm and the clothes come out practically dry.

My Samsung lid cracked at the mounts. I called and they said there was a recall that had to be done......but not on that. It was for the entire top coming loose from unbalanced load. After that was fixed they said they could file a warranty claim for the top which they did. Parts were not available so they offered a new Samsung washer OR full price paid back. I took the money and bought an LG.
My Samsung refrigerator dies after 2 years. not covered. That is now an LG and I won't buy a Samsung appliance again.

rule of thumb, don’t buy samsung or LG appliances. Cannot recommend GE profile line enough. everything in my house other than my washer and dryer is GE profile. Washer and Dryer is a whirlpool set purchased brand new in 2024 due to my families success with whirlpool. parents set of “kenmore” (sears branded whirlpool) front loaders is 20 years old and they’ve never even had to call out a service man.

This. The parts and service network just isn't there, their appliances look great but aren't reliable and when they need repair it's next to impossible. Samsung had a washer recall a few years ago and had Dish Network doing the recall because their service network is so poor. GE/Whirlpool/Frigidaire are the way to go.
I do like the $500 white metal box for reasons like this. Made in the USA too.
With the right settings it can use 45 gal of water, but when you wash the barn coveralls, dog blanket, or the kids clothes, that's what you want! Our well and septic have no problems with any number of loads a day, but I can see if water/sewer is expensive, the HE ones start to make sense.
