Wife texted me a picture of the five month old Samsung washer. The case appeared to develop a crack.

I suspect the washer is under warranty. But will Samsung actually fix the washer, or will they deny the claim and charge a fee, stating user error, floor not level etc?

My trust in warranty repairs of this nature is not high.

Juice worth the squeeze? Worth calling Samsung?

picture is too close up. better pics.. info/backstory on washer.

Around here its getting someone to work on a warranty samsung that is hard.. not the actual warranty.

Something was dropped on it..............at least it certainly looks that way.

At any rate-that damage is such the warranty will be denied.

Need better pic and back story. Was this a scratch and dent unit?
Nope, Wife wanted a brand-new washer and dryer with the new home. I cried as I had purchased a perfectly good (but smelled of cigarette smoke) used set for the home, while we picked out a new washer and dryer.

Wife doesn't ask for much but moving every two +/- years over the last few decades, she wanted a new washer and dryer- so off to Home Depot and ordered the pair brand new.

The old washer and dryer is in one of my trailers, waiting to find someone in need of them.

Thanks, just requested a new picture from the Wife...

That is my fear. We are likely distant from a Samsung authorized warranty center. And even if we were close, does anyone care to do the work.

Multiple cracks. Probably not a stress fracture. Maybe the lid bent? Bad design?

Possibly they know of this problem. Had a LG fridge that the bottom drawers both cracked. Called - figured they would deny but nope - they sent two new drawers no questions asked. Clearly they were aware.

The issue was the new drawers broke like the old drawers in a few months, and the fridge was out of warranty.

Doesn't hurt to call, but I assume this needs a technician to replace - hard to find?

That sorta looks like It chipped out from an impact. Maybe from lid dropping over time? is it soft close?

Still shouldnt break.. and likely covered.

It can't hurt to file a warranty claim with Samsung (or the seller) if the unit is only 5 months old. However, I would not agree to pay for any diagnostic fee since it is obviously cracked. I'm kind of surprised that with your extensive mechanical background that you would have agreed to get a Samsung washer and dryer as it is well documented and reported by consumer surveys and online/YouTube reviews that they are troublesome, unreliable, and difficult to find repair shops willing to work on them.

See if your wife can talk to the Home Depot manager to discuss. We have been successful getting a water heater replaced by the manager when the manufacturer denied coverage because my water line had too much line pressure (but was not true since no pressures were taken--warranty denier made big assumption. My wife did the discussion as I was not available at the time and was successful.

Interested in outcome as we have all Samsung appliances in the "new "house we moved in to (3 yr old second owner).

I'm guessing it was a wifely decision.

I have been doing 100% the laundry since dec 24th 2024 and I am still 100% happy I picked up the speed queen front loader.
yes I might have to do 3 loads a week instead of 2.. but its a great machine.

I had a Samsung washer for 11 years, lasted through 2 teanage girls - pretty sure it ran nonstop for those 11 years because it was washing one item at a time. The lid was broke but we made it work. The bleach dispenser area completely rusted out. Finally the pump started leaking so replaced with a Maytag.

The Maytag is the loudest, most vibrating thing I have ever seen. I close the laundry room door and its still louder than the Samsung. First and last Maytag.

The Samsung dryer is still here, drying fine. Its on its 3rd heater element - First one shorted with a penny, second one shorted with a paper clip. Belts is still original. Replaced the wheels the drum runs on - the teanagers wore them out and they started squeeking.

After doing numerous registrations, jumping through a dozen online verification and loops, finally entered the serial number. The model number pops up, and then I press submit

Reply- model not valid.

Two hours into this so far-- and made zero progress. At the moment, juice Definity not worth the squeeze. I even have the receipt as required but can't register the product.

Can't make this stuff up.

Wife says always avoid Samsung
HomeDepot had a Samsung washer on sale for $650 right when our old washer died a catastrophic death. The washer got horrible reviews, but for $650, we took a chance. It's been great. It's about 10 years old so probably at the end of its expected life. We'll ride it out.

Thanks,

The serial number worked. After entering the serial number, Samsung website then pulled the model number via automation--not me. Similar to how entering a vin on Ford's website returns with the year, make, and model.

The model number Samsung posted is in fact the same model number on the machine, and the same model number on the receipt.

From time to time, I have posted my disdain for IT and the leaders heading IT. When I email someone for work, every single email I send every time has contains four different cell numbers I can be reached at, two work emails I can be reached at, and my personal e-mail. IT does it the exact opposite, make communication a significant challenge and ghost hunt. I understand the chat feature; I didn't have an hour this morning to play additional games with chat with the likely result of "they can't help me". I already spent two hours on Samsung web-site just registering as a user, back on forth proof of who I am, getting timeout while entering the serial number, re logging in doesn't allow access to the s/n enter page, and the receipt PDF to large of a file size.
