Seeing the MIGHTY M2051 PSD filter that Car51 cut open a few days ago reminded me that I needed to change the oil in my own PSD. Here is another CarQuest Blue made by Affinia (WIX) that I grabbed from Rock Auto for about $4.50 some time ago. My Gold Plug magnetic drain plug had very little material on it and another CQ Blue (also made by WIX) replaced it. This run was with Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 (CJ-4); Chevron Delo 400 LE 5W-40 (CJ-4) went back in. I am still very satisfied with the quality of these filters.

Enjoy!

That almost looks like maybe wire backed synthetic media? They seem to put more care into heavy duty filters, those louvers looks a lot better than any I have been looking at.

It is wire-backed, not positive whether the media is synthetic, but I believe it is.

I will have to check, but I think all of the ones I have are circa 2015. Be aware this is a Carquest Blue filter made by Affinia who also made WIX prior to being assimilated by Purolator.

Sure looks synthetic, much like the Amsoil EO080 I use on my Cummins, but at a fraction of the cost.:)

Yeah, I have a few Wix made CQ Blue for the Scion (had some Wix and Fram made CQ Red filters for my truck) that I got from Rockauto for about $2.50/filter. I know late 2015 and early/mid 2016 CQ are Fram made.

I have two types--those made by Affinia (WIX) and those made by Clarcor (Baldwin).

Assimilated-that's a good word to use for what Mann & Hummel are doing to these filter companies!! Good looking filter, looks like a Stratapore.

Very nice, definitely a beefy looking filter. Do you know the ones made by Clarcor is wired-back as well?

Yes, they are. Here is a new one that I cut open when I first bought them (scroll down a little in the post and you will see the wire backing):

I had posted the dates for the filters quite some time ago (had to dig it up):

The other Clarcor was made in January 2015 as well and the remaining WIX filters were made in May 2014 except one was made in September 2014. All in all a great deal for these filters which are all wire-backed and can be quite expensive.

Good looking filters. I enjoyed both of your C&P of the CQ filters. Thanks!
