It was a simulated i5-750.
They didn't have an i5-750 on hand for the comparison, so they took an i7-920, turned off the hyperthreading, and set it to run only dual-channel RAM.
You know, I never noticed that until you pointed that out! LOL!
When the article was written (8/13/2009), the Lynnfield processors hadn't been released. Tom's had the specs for the i5-750, but didn't have an actual processor and wanted to see how it would compare to the Phenom, so they tweaked a i7-920 to i5-750 specs.
