CPAP Users

Use an ozone cleaning machine - Nope, ozone is not good on these machines and components. Dawn and white vinegar one a week.
Get periodic disposable supplies - Change out the mask and tube every 8 months or so. Filter is changed every 2-3 months.
Get good results - Definitely helps
Type of mask used - Hybrid full face (partial mouth breather)
Ever use it on an airplane - Never had that long of a flight.
Deal with a dry mouth - I don' have any problems and I got rid of the water chamber all together.

I also use this while camping in the RV. It comes with two batteries you can link if needed. On an average RV camping night, one battery would last about 50% of one battery. So, in theory, the two batteries would give me 4 night's sleep without a charge. It's also designed to be a battery backup for the cpap if the power happens to go out in the middle of the night.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea last year, and I had one of the 'top 10' worst cases my doctor said he had ever seen.

I use a Resmed AirSense 11 and an AirFit N30i nasal mask. It's made all the difference in the world in the quality of my sleep and I don't wake up every minute of every night feeling like I'm suffocating. I can only imagine the damage I've done to myself over the years by not having this diagnosed sooner.

The mask, hose and water tank get a weekly warm bath in dish soap with some white vinegar. Using distilled water leaves the tank spotless. I have a bunch of supplies that were sent to me and I've not seen any reason to replace anything except the air filter in the last eight months.

My AHI was 114.8. /peep

The pulmonologist, 75'ish years old, said it was the highest he'd ever seen in his 40+ years of being a doctor. :x

While weight does play into my snoring and apnea, it's only a part of it. The physiology of my throat and tongue play a major part. I have fluctuated in weight and a few years ago I dropped a pile as I was eating healthy and training heavy in BJJ. Only minor changes in my heavy snoring. My BMI showed me still as obese.

This CPAP does an amazing job of keeping my airway from closing in as it relaxes. I have not had the usual dreams and sudden awakenings when I could not breath. This thing has done wonders in just a few weeks.

My last sleep test had me at 33 or so interruptions per hour, my oxygen level dropped to 78% and heart rate up to 98 bpm. Couple that with stress and garbage scheduled shift work, yah my BMI must have been bad.

Using dish soap will leave residue. You probably don't want to breathe that in, especially under pressure.

You also don't want to rinse with anything but distilled water. For the same reason you only use distilled water into a nasal irrigator.

Over the counter alcohol should clean out the gunk, will definitely disinfect, and dries fast when hooked back up, and the CPAP run.

What’s the BMI of our CPAP users? Everyone I know that has one could stand to lose 40+ pounds.
I was a loud snorer when I weighed 150#. My dad was a loud snorer and never weighed more than 150#. I remember him awakening and mumbling through the night. Probably had sleep apnea. I could lose some weight but I think that's only one part of the story.

One of our friends is about 40. A bit overweight - maybe 15#. He has sleep apnea.

Our gardener is a healthy young woman (about age 40). Very fit and not overweight. She has sleep apnea too.

Sleep apnea is apparently frequently under-diagnosed.

Now that you say that, it made me remember an intern that we had last year. Cute, 24 year old, petite, young lady. She joked that her CPAP was quite the turn-on in the dating scene.

Chiming in here, I've used a CPAP machine every night except two since 1998 when I was diagnosed with OSA. Currently use a Resmed Airsense 11 and a Nuance Fabric mask and headgear. My health insurance allows for a new unit every five years. I've had an 18.5 inch neck for 35 years, and my bifid or split uvula doesn't help my condition. It's a way of life, and I never had trouble adjusting to it even 25 years ago when the units were not so advanced.

Flush out your hose and water tank with hydrogen peroxide.(weekly) Wash the mask with a pure , unscented Castille soap, (Dr.Bonners unscented)- daily

My son and I have Respironics Dreamstation 2 machines which replaced Dreamstations under the recall. I think there is no difference in performance between my old and new machine and my son prefers the new one. My mask is a Resmed Mirage FX and son’s is a Respironics something or other. If I was to buy a new one I would probably buy a Resmed due to the poor way Respironics handled the recall.

What's your bank account balance? What's your credit score? What do you do for fun outside of picking boogers in your basement?
$7,329, 850 experian fico 9, I like collecting my sons green bands from seimming at the Y cuz when there’s a huge pile of them I feel the $123/mo fee is justified. But it is nowhere as enjoyable as the booger picking in my car when at a Walmart parking lot

"Flush out your hose and water tank with hydrogen peroxide"

Make sure you rinse that stuff out! It is very dangerous to breathe in. (Said I, after partially doing so, then googling my symptoms).

Yes, you run peroxide, then flush with hot water. Guess I typed it , not thinking someone might not use warm to hot water afterwards.
I’ve rinsed my mouth out with peroxide, I’m sure breathing it would be alarming
