CoWorker got carjacked

Last night a coworker of mine (and close friend) got carjacked as she pulled up to her apartment. She lives in a fairly rough part of town and she is a cute 23 year old girl that weighs maybe 95 lbs. The scum (don't know if it was armed scum) took her car, phone, purse, keys and left her paralyzed with fear. This poor girl is going to be emotionally scarred for a long time. Don't know why I am posting this...just needed to vent

**If you ever plan on visiting Richmond VA to view all of the history, do yourself a favor and do not stay the night anywhere near the city. This place is bad, really bad, and it is getting worse.

Just about all of Richmond is "a fairly rough part of town". I go there only when I must, and stay away from downtown and the east side in particular.

More aware of your surroundings, especially at night, stress this to my daughters when they are out at night. Hope your friend can overcome this bad situation soon.

You were in Midlothian or the West End, miles away and a world apart from the Manchester area where she lives.

She needs to carry pepper spray. Ask apartment for better lighting is thats an issue.

You need to have the pepper spray in your hand ready to go if you're in a bad area. No fumbling around a purse for 2 minutes, "hold up sir, lemme get my spray out".

It's a shame, just live with your parent's, if possible, until you can afford to be in a good area.

Awareness should be your first defensive weapon. Pepper spay is no guarantee, may just piss him off. Unfortunately crime doesent seem as big a concern as it used to be some places. God made ppl, Colt made ppl equal.

Take her gun shopping. Once she’s picked out her carry firearm, take her to the range and teach her how to shoot. Make sure she keeps her firearm on her person at all times.

Yup, I got turned around once in Charlottesville (not a big city) and ended up in the projects...before that minute I didn't even know Charlottesville had a bad part of town
