Couldn't take it anymore

Reading the reviews on these tires the most interesting thing I see is that they aren't well like on anything they are used on. And this tire is used on Honda Accords and the Ram 1500 trucks. That screams to me of a tire that isn't particularly suited to at least one or the other use - and in this case it may be neither.

I also don't subscribe to the OEM tires are bad theory either. My current F150 came from the factory with Goodyear Wrangler Adventure with Kevlar tires in the LT flavor, same as the ones you get from an aftermarket retailer, and I liked them well enough to replace with the same. Have had similar experiences with Michelin tires.

Currently on Goodyear wrangler all terrains on my van and they totally suck. 3.5 years and cracking everywhere and it doesn’t bother me a bit being I can’t stand them. They have never balanced out well whatsoever. So you can feel them on the highway at all times.

If those are the Goodyear LS-2s they don't have any traction with full tread. They are absolutely horrible tires. I have had two sets as OEM tires on two different Silverados.

They are designed for a smooth ride-nothing more.

We liked the Continental Contitrac's well enough that came stock on the wife's Expedition. The Goodyear Wrangler's that come on the Jeeps my brother keeps buying have been nothing but junk, though.

Replacement are Michelin Defender LTX M/S, hope to have them installed in the next couple of days.
I knew it! As I was reading the first half of your post I knew what it was getting lol.

I'm not sure how Goodyear is still in business, I don't know anybody that likes their tires. It must be uninformed consumers that are keeping them afloat, average Joe's that go into a tire store and the tire counter guy sells them a set.

Of all the tires I've bought and have had out on family's cars, I've never walked into a tire store to buy/order a set without knowing what I was getting ahead of time. And it certainly wasn't Goodyears.

I take that back, I put a pair of Goodyear Viva somethings on my 97' Camry, put 3,000 miles on it within a week or so and then sold it. Those tires were fine for the week I had them :ROFLMAO:. I was a college kid on a budget.

They finally start making a great truck, and then have the audacity to put awful tires on them! My Goodyear Wrangler SR-A’s won’t make it 2 years, only have 14k miles on them, went through a round a bout at 25mph and like yours it just wanted to slide.

I very much like the Michelin Defenders on my 4Runner right now. But as far as improving mileage? I haven’t really seen it...
I reviewed my data just this week...
OEM Bridgestone Duelers: 33547 miles. Average MPG: 21.37
Bridgestone Revos P-rated A/T tires: 37319 miles. Average MPG: 20.91
Michelin Defender LTX: 43182 miles. Average MPG: 20.83

OE tires suck, and a lot of people don't like Goodyear, either. Put them together and you get chaos :alien: :poop:

Most OE tires are designed to be cheap and maybe get good mpg, disregarding anything else. Even aftermarket tires of the same name can be vastly different than OE tires of the same name. For example, if you ordered a set of Goodyear Eagle Touring from Tire Rack, they wouldn't be as bad as the ones you chucked.

The Defender LTX M/S is a good choice :)

The OE Pirelli's I've had on all my SRT Grand Cherokees have been great. The GY Eagle RS-A's I had on my SRT Charger were garbage. I did own a set of Goodyear SilentArmor tires that were quite good though.

A lot of your sipes are gone on your rear tire photo, so... can't say I'm suprised.
They've been like this since new, I think I actually had a thread on tossing them right after we bought the truck. Are they worse now? Probably, but they've never even been decent, they've always been awful.

Those tires are shot. What are they at? 3/32 maybe 4/32?
No idea, I don't have a depth gauge handy, but they probably have like 25,000km on them? (15,000 miles). As I noted in the OP, not only was the traction garbage, but they didn't even have good tread life to show for it.

Those pictures are scary! I won’t touch an OE Goodyear, granted I have had good luck so far with the Goodyear Assuance on my Cobalt (all the shop had). If we keep our Nox- those LTX on it will be replaced with the same.....

Many people on this thread are just too harsh on Goodyear in general. They do make some good tires. Some bad ones too. That particular one doesn't get ranked too highly on tirerack, something like 45 out of 58. They have a few other tires that are ranked in the top 5 out of 30-40 tires. I think you have to look at the individual ranking on a particular tire. I had Goodyear Tripletreds before. At the time I got them, they were ranked #1 on tirerack which is why others on here like them too.

I had some Goodyear Eagle Sports on a 2013 KIA Optima. They were some pretty good tires.
I don’t see why Chrysler would pick a standard touring tire for a truck. The Goodyear Touring is primarily for sedans and coups. They are at the most a mid tier tire. Probably a tire you would find at Walmart TLE. Chrysler must have gotten a good deal on them.
For 22” tires on a RAM, I would pick tires designed for trucks or SUVs.
Firestone Destination LE 3s
Michelin Defender LTX
Michelin LTX M/S 2
Continental Terrain Contact H/T

Wife and I drove up to Orillia today to look at some trailers and it was wet/raining. Pulled out onto a main road and could not accelerate. Touching the gas had the truck walking its ass sideways. This is not the first time I've experienced it, this is what had me looking at tossing these tires last year and I'm finally fed up enough that I've ordered new ones, which I did about 30 seconds after this event.

Trucks has ~40,000Km on it and gets dedicated snows every winter. Despite that, and the absolutely horrific wet traction these tires serve up, these are burning off at an alarming rate (quite unlike the snow tires, which are wearing exceptionally well).
Had a similar experience with Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus on a small SUV....couldn’t wait to get rid of them, bad on wet and worse in the winter. After 20K miles and one winter, I replaced them with Deffender LTX...have been great.
